Y9 - Edlington FirE Station

Week commencing 5th November 8 students from Year 9 spent the week at Edlington Fire Station

They took part in an initiative called ARC which stands for 'Achieving Respect and Confidence'. The aim is to teach them self respect, confidence and help them work as a team. Throughout the week they learnt the Fire Services values which are:

  • Hardwork
  • Teamwork
  • Care
  • Compassion
  • To do the right thing

When they applied these principles they formed well as a team throughout the week.

The fire officers who lead the team through the week had these things to say about our students.

'Showed leadership and helped struggling students'

'Fantastic from day one. Encompassed everything asked of her.'

A 'Passing out parade' was held at the fire station on Friday 9th November where all students that took part were presented with a certificate and photographs documenting their week. Members of the pastoral team and Mrs Bootman along with the Mayor of Doncaster attended this parade and we witnessed them climbing ladders, using the water hoses, rescuing a victim from a car and a dummy baby from a building!

We are extremely proud of these students as were their parents who were also invited along. Below are some photos of their week.
