Mrs Ellis has been the Operations Director at the Northern Racing College since November 2011. This involves managing the delivery of the residential foundation training, apprenticeships, the preparation and implementation of college wide quality assurance processes. She also oversees funding and MIS reporting. She has sound understanding/interpretation of achievement data, which is invaluable in spotting trends. In addition to this she leads on the Self-Assessment Report and Business Improvement Plan, is the lead Internal Quality Assurance Officer and the designated safeguarding person. Mrs Ellis has broad experience in the education sector; she is very familiar with Ofsted inspections having being involved in five during her time at the NRC and being the nominee for two of them.
She joined the NRC in 1994 as a part-time instructor and then became a full time member of staff in 1999 dealing with delivery of key skills and equine theory lectures, being promoted to Chief Education and Training Officer in 2005 and then to Quality Manager in May 2009.
Prior to starting at the NRC she was a freelance riding instructor, ran a livery yard and competed in a number of equine disciplines. She attained her British Horse Society Intermediate Instructor qualification in 1996. She also holds a Certificate in Education, NVQ Level 3 in Horse Care and Management and an NVQ Level 4 in Learning and Development. She continues to teach horse riding and helps to coach under 9’s mini rugby at Thornensians RUFC in her spare time.
She has strong Doncaster roots having lived in Intake until her teenage years, attending Danum School. She is passionate about giving young people the best possible start, getting them ready for life and the real world of work. She believes that improving their confidence, resilience, self-esteem and raising aspirations is fundamental to their success.
